Alex and Erin’s engagement session fell on a beautiful day. It was warm enough to walk around outside without jackets even! Aaah! It seems like spring can’t make up it’s mind this year and I am totally getting anxious to get outside in some warm weather and start shooting. We’re kind of stuck in an ugly phase right now, where everything is dead and dirty. I cannot wait for gorgeous spring colors, we are getting so close!

Alex and Erin’s wedding is bound to be a stunner. After their engagement session I could not help but get excited for their big day. These two were so natural and candid, I truly enjoyed it! And the colors on this day were so lovely. Enjoy! : )

I can’t believe that wedding season is right around the corner. This winter has been so long and dreary, so I am super anxious to get out and start shooting more.  The warmer weather lately has certainly brightened my spirit and fired me up for the 2014 wedding season.

Brant and Brianne’s session fell on a chilly, but beautiful day. We did most of their engagement session at the Plains Art Museum, which is always one of my favorite indoor spots during the winter months. We finished with just a few shots outside, which were totally worth it. I enjoyed the time I got to spend with this fabulous couple chatting about wedding details and getting to know them more. They were super cute in front of the camera and I was impressed with their awesome outfits choices. Enjoy! : )

I am so thrilled that Matt and Emilee made the journey to Fargo for their engagement session. It was a frigid day, but you could hardly tell because these two were so incredibly fun! We started their session at the Fargo Public Library and finished outside in downtown Fargo. It was so hard to narrow down my favorites, but here are a few from their session. Enjoy! : )

I have anxiously awaited the moment I could share this stylized shoot with you all. One of my business goals for 2013 was to have my first stylized shoot featuring other creatives and small business owners. This last June I had the opportunity to finally check this goal off my list. I was fortunate enough to come together with some brilliant artists who are so incredibly talented. Seriously you guys are going to be blown away!

Check out this lovely description from Carrie of Rustic Trunk on what inspired her concepts behind this shoot and how everyone’s ideas came together to create a gorgeous set.

“The goal for our project was to create a rustic wedding scene with a unique twist! We chose to set our scene at Rustic Oaks, a farmstead-turned-wedding-and-event-venue in Moorhead, MN. The venue’s soft, natural charm is a favorite in the Red River area! We wanted the photos to be bright, colorful, and fun! So rather than using the typical soft pastel color scheme of many rustic weddings, we went with bright yellow, blue, deep red, wooden crate tan, and a silvery metal grey. We blended the soft, natural elements of the location with this more modern color scheme and the yellow chevron pattern. We also incorporated industrial elements like metal, wire, and bare light bulbs. The light bulb vases and bottle cap corsages are great DIYs for brides who love to get crafty, keep budgets low, and add unique personal touches to their weddings!  The best part of this shoot is that it is the result of a collaboration of small local businesses and artists!” – Carrie, Rustic Trunk

The 2014 wedding season is filling up fast, so I know many of my brides are in the creative planning stages for their wedding. Several aspects of your wedding day can be overwhelming, I once was a bride myself, so I totally get it. This is exactly why fabulous creatives, like the ones listed below, exist! Each one of these talented individuals are passionate about what they do and truly enjoy making your day absolutely spectacular.  Who would have thought you could hire someone to bring your wedding day thoughts, dreams, and hopes to fruition?

Thank you so much to each incredible vendor who made this goal of mine come to life. I am so honored to have worked along side each and every one of you. Hugs and high fives for all of you. Your hard work and dedication are what make this wedding industry so fabulous!

We were fortunate enough to be featured on the lovely Dainty Obsession blog! To view the feature please visit here.

Woohoo! Today sure has been a wonderful day around here. Dainty Obsessions featured my first ever stylized shoot on their wedding blog. To view this gorgeous shoot, please go here. I’ll be sharing more from this stylized shoot very soon.

I am so giddy to share these beautiful images from Josh and Jenna’s winter wedding. I’m not going to lie, I am not the biggest fan when it comes to cold weather. I’m a pretty big baby when it comes to being cold. So the idea of a winter wedding has not been my favorite, UNTIL Josh and Jenna’s wedding. Seriously, it was so breathtakingly beautiful! The light during the winter months is just plain different. It’s so warm and yummy! The images outside ended up being some of my favorites from their day, despite the short amount of time we were out. We were able to take a majority of their images inside at the Plains Art Museum, which provides a beautiful setting for portraits. Their reception was located at The Hub and it was my first time ever attending a wedding event there. If you’ve ever been to the Hub before, you know how huge the event area is. I could not believe how full the room was and the decor was stunning! I absolutely loved their day. Thank you so much Josh and Jenna for allowing me to document your day. Enjoy : )

I just LOVE Josh’s expression in the background while Jenna shows him her dress!

It was freezing outside and these guys were warriors! We braved the cold for a few minutes to get some fun shots outside and boy am I glad we did!

The guys before the ceremony. My first cigar shots! It was fun.

Loved this sparkler send out!! So so awesome!

            January 8th, 2014

Now that the new year is here, I can’t help but sit here with a smile on my face as I reflect on last year. 2013 was a fabulous one! At the beginning of the year I sat down and wrote down my goals for my business. Looking back I am so proud of what I accomplished last year. I was able to check off several of my goals and the best part, I got to meet some incredible couples!! I even got to witness and document these couples share some of the biggest moments of their lives together. What an honor! Honestly, I know it probably sounds cliche, but it really is true. I’ve always been a people person and this ‘job’ couldn’t be more perfect for me. The business aspect, which actually takes up about 80% of my time, may not be all that fun but the time that I do get to spend with these amazing people makes it all worth while. I decided to go back through the full year and share some of my favorite images – in no particular order.

            Enjoy! : )

              December 2nd, 2013

These two are seriously the most adorable couple. Wyatt is one special guy, I tell ya! Before they were even engaged, he contacted me about being their wedding photographer. He lined things up perfectly! So the first time I met Mariah was at their session and finally I could put a face to this gorgeous girl that Wyatt was talking about. I had a blast at their session downtown. We hopped around a few fun spots and even snapped a couple pictures in Babb’s Coffee House. It was incredibly difficult narrowing these down, so please forgive me for the picture overload. They were just so outgoing and giggly, that I couldn’t get rid of any! I’m sure these will put a huge smile on your face. I can’t wait for your big day next summer, it’s going to be fabulous! Enjoy : )

                November 30th, 2013

As a photographer, I always get just a little nervous before an engagement session. It’s the very first time I get the opportunity to see how the couple will interact in front of my camera, so I get a feeling of pressure to perform well. It almost feels like a test to determine whether or not we will fit well. For me, the most important aspect of my business and my brand is creating an experience for each couple that is both enjoyable and fun. I pride myself in making each couple feel comfortable in front of my camera, so you can see how the pressure can quickly add up. But honestly I feel so blessed to have the couples I do, because they’re each so amazing and continuously make my job enjoyable! The nerves always quickly subside and I always have such a good time. Justin and Stevi’s engagement session was a perfect example. I was slightly anxious and nervous, but they were complete naturals in front of my camera from the first image I took. We had their session at the Plains Art Museum, one of my favorite indoor locations. There are so many areas to utilize and it’s always a bonus to stay inside where it’s nice and warm. At the end of their session we managed to sneak outside for a few fun shots in the freezing cold. Enjoy : )

One of my favorites below : )
