JAMES + KAREN // FARGO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

May 25th, 2013

I am so happy to share these images from James and Karen’s wedding day with you! They were my first wedding to kick off the season and I am so stinkin’ glad that I was able to be there to capture their day. Karen’s laugh and smile are absolutely infectious and she is just sweet as pie. James is so kind and any guy who enjoys fantasy football is a winner in my book! The way that he looks at Karen just melted my heart. Their ceremony was beautiful and I was a blubbering fool behind my camera the entire time. I’m such a softy believe it or not. Karen had me in tears the second she walked down the aisle and watching James grin from ear to ear while looking at his wife was the coolest thing to witness, EVER! I loved every minute of their day and even Riley, their cute pup, got a chance to make an appearance during the first look. How awesome is that?! Thank you so much James and Karen for letting me be a part of your story. I’m anxious to see the future has in store for you two. Enjoy : )

Happy Memorial day weekend everyone!

TRAVIS + BRIDGET // FARGO ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

    May 10th, 2013

All I could do while editing these images from Travis + Bridget’s engagement session was smile. These two are so stinkin’ adorable! I can not get over how photogenic they are! At the beginning of our session Bridget informed me that Travis wasn’t too interested in having his picture taken. Buuuut check out the first image below. This was one of my very first frames taken at their session. Yeah, I’d say they came prepared or they’re just that in love that it oozed right out into my camera!! You can totally tell by the images below how well they fit together. The weather was gorgeous and their session turned out perfectly! Loved every minute of it. Thank you so much Travis + Bridget for allowing me to tag along for the evening and capture some special moments! Oh and I’m sorry for my ridiculous amount of Dumb and Dumber quotes…..what can I say?? “I like it, I like it a lot.”

    Enjoy : )

Yep. Their wedding is going to be AMAZING! It’s back to back weddings for me this weekend. YIPPEEEEE!

LET’S GET ‘ER DONE!  (I know, more crazy lame quotes.)

    Cheers to the weekend, friends!

    Emily

Ps. Bridget – I’m totally going to Target and getting that blanket! : )

AARON + RACHEL // FARGO ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

      May 9th, 2013

I absolutely adored this session out on Aaron + Rachel’s family farm. Anytime I have an opportunity to capture images at a new location, I get all giddy inside. The light was yummy and Aaron + Rachel were infectiously cute!! You can totally tell how in love these two are. I barely had to direct them, which was awesome as I was able to sit back and document their love! Their Thumper Pond wedding is coming soon and I CANNOT wait! It’s going to be stunning! Thank you Aaron + Rachel for inviting me to your home and letting me hang with you and Deuce for the evening. Deuce, their pup even made an appearance!! Loved it! Enjoy : )

This was my first session with a tractor!! The country girl in me got a little excited when they wanted to take a few pictures by it : ) Yeehaw!! Haha. Busy busy weekend coming up for this gal. LET’S DO THIS!! EKP wedding season 2013 is going to ROCK!!!

When Julie asked me about doing a second engagement session when the weather warmed up, I was so excited! Despite the freezing temperatures at their last engagement session, I still had a great time! So I was more than happy for round two with warmer temps! Lucky for us, the weather was absolutely gorgeous at their session! 70 degrees!!! Yay!! Finally summer is coming. The light was so beautiful and I was really diggin’ the black and white vibe (if you couldn’t tell). Thank you so much Jamison and Julie for traveling to Fargo for your session! A DAY WITH EMILY STEFFEN // PERSONAL

            April 5th, 2013

When I decided to follow my passion for wedding photography, I don’t think I truly understood what I was signing up for. I absolutely LOVE my job, but it does not come without it’s difficulties. As some of you may know, I have my nursing degree and worked as a floor nurse before starting my photography business. The beginning stages of my business have definitely been a learning process for me. I’ve found that my brain doesn’t understand (nor enjoy) the business side of being an entrepreneur : ) I just love getting behind a camera and interacting with my clients! But, business must be tended to! After a year of trying to figure it out on my own, I finally decided to enlist the help of a fellow photographer to guide me in the right direction!

When I  stumbled across Emily Steffen’s blog, I KNEW I had to meet her!  Her bubbly and fun personality really jumped out at me as I read her words on her blog. As I scrolled through her images and drooled over her amazing talent, I really had a tugging at my heart to meet this super talented girl! After corresponding back and forth, we got a mentor session arranged in Fargo!! I was so stinkin’ excited to spend an entire day picking her brain and making a new friend. I feel so incredibly blessed to have had this opportunity! I learned soooo much! I cannot wait to implement what I learned and watch my business grow! Thank you so so so much Emily!! You are such an amazing person and I am so glad to have met you! Here’s to making new friends!

Check out this adorable gift Emily got me!! LOVED IT!!! The camera is actually handmade by Emily! She owns a textile business. I know what you’re thinking…is there anything this girl can’t do?? Nope : ) She’s uber talented. Check out more of her textile work at her Etsy shop here or watch and learn more about her story here. So cute!

In the afternoon we headed out to shoot together! My wonderful friends Cory and Lauren so graciously  gave up their afternoon to spend some time in front of our cameras and I am so grateful! They were so stinkin’ cute and they made it incredibly easy to learn while shooting with Emily. Cory’s hair was looking awesome (as always) and Lauren’s smile was totally infectious. They’re such a fun couple to photograph! Check it out…

Never mind our reflections in her aviators, I’m obsessed with this image because it’s TOTALLY Lauren!
            Smiling, laughing, and absolutely stunning!

Our view of Cory & Lauren through the window at Babb’s Coffee House. And I die…..

THANK YOU so much Emily, Cory & Lauren!!! I hope you enjoyed these images as much as I did : )

DYLAN + DEBBIE // FARGO ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

              March 25th, 2013

I had a wonderful time this past weekend with Dylan & Debbie while taking their engagement pictures. Their session was so much fun! You can tell how much these two adore one another. They were so natural in front of the camera, it totally made my job way too easy! When Debbie told me she wanted to do something fun and different for her engagement session, I threw out the idea of shooting at the Fargo Air Museum and when she said she was on board I was so stinkin’ ecstatic! I could not be more happy with the way these images turned out. I really enjoyed shooting something different and unique. Little did I know that Dylan & Debbie had their very first date at an airport!! How awesome is that? I must give props to Debbie for the awesome outfit selections. I loved the colors! She has such a fab sense of style. I can only imagine how amazing her wedding dress will be. Thanks so much Dylan & Debbie for allowing me to capture your love. Can’t wait for the big day! I hope you two enjoy these as much as I did : )

              Um….gorgeous, Debbie!!

This about sums up how adorable these two are : )

              Have a wonderful week everyone!

UPDATES // 2013 INTERN POSITION + SPRING WORKSHOP + MODELS NEEDED

                March 2nd, 2013

                Hello everyone : )

Yep, you read the title right. Lots of fun coming up here at Emily Koska Photography! Things around here have been super busy as of late, so I apologize for the lack of activity on my blog. One of my goals this year is to blog at least once a week. It sounds so easy, but when life gets a hold of you it can get a little tricky. These days you can find me working my pediatric home care nursing job, teaching group fitness classes, meeting with 2013 brides, launching my 2014 senior rep program AND taking on some personal endeavors. YIKES! I am so excited for 1) tax season to be over and 2) spring to come around so I can get outside and shoot more!! This spring will be crazy busy with engagement sessions featuring 2013 couples and I CANNOT wait.

Speaking of 2013 weddings, I am currently seeking an intern for the 2013 summer/fall wedding season. I am searching for a fun, creative, and motivated individual to join me. If you fit this description and would like details (and think you can handle me singing along to Mariah Carey at the top of my lungs on road trips), then please inquire through my contact page. I am so excited for this summer/fall! I have some amazing weddings lined up and I’d love to have someone just as excited as me along for the ride.

Second, I will be offering a Beginner’s Workshop from 1-4pm on Sunday, April 28th. This workshop is ideal for anyone looking to explore their hobby for photography and learn how to operate their DSLR camera! If you would like to register or find out more, please contact me at emilykoskaphotography[at]gmail[dot]com. It’s going to be lots of fun and very informative, promise! : )

Lastly, I am searching for a super quirky, stylish, and outgoing couple to model for a mentoring session in the afternoon on April 3rd in Fargo. If you know a couple that fits this description who would be interested in some stunning FREE images, then send them my way. Yay!

Whew, lots of announcements but I am so pumped for wedding season to pick up!! Bring it on 2013!!

And because every post is better with an image, here is a recent favorite of mine from Mike & Carly’s engagement session! : )

                Cheers to chasing our dreams!

Brian and Krystal’s engagement session was so much fun. We started out at the NDSU Alumni Center and ended at Concordia College. I was so proud of them for hanging out in the cold weather on super bowl sunday to capture some fun outdoor images! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did : )

                    Have a wonderful weekend!
